Celebrate Earth Day…Every Day!

Can You Celebrate Earth Day Without Leaving Home?

Today is the 50th anniversary of the first official Earth Day was celebrated in 1970. Created by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson to educate the public about the environment (following a catastrophic oil spill), it is celebrated by almost 200 nations.

While most residents of those many countries live with shelter in place orders, it can seem difficult to celebrate any holiday. However, ask Forbes contributor Laura Tenenbaum if there is any way to celebrate Earth Day 2020 from home and she will give you a great list of beneficial activities. Columbia University in New York also has a tremendous list of digital resources and creative ideas about marking the day, and EarthDay.org has a fantastic 22-day challenge.

We have a few favorites from the challenge, including finding “isolutions” for those who find themselves spending most of their time alone, doing a plastic audit in your home or office, and reading rather than streaming video content. We encourage you to take a look for yourself and find your favorite ideas.

At Home on Earth Day

And if you have been using your time of sheltering in place to tackle those endless household projects or some hefty spring cleaning, you likely need some further resources.

For instance, can you still drop all the unworn clothing, unused linens, and other items at the local charity shops? Yes, they allow you to bring your goods to their exterior drop areas. What about all of the “big” items you cannot fit into the washer and dryer? Your comforters and blankets, the slipcovers for the furniture, the drapes and curtains…we can come and get them.

Oak Hill Dry Cleaners has effective solutions to clean and sanitizes all of those items you’ve been setting aside as you clean or streamline your home. We can pick them up at no cost, and do whatever cleaning treatment is possible.

Eco-Friendly Dry Cleaning

Remember that we are an eco-friendly dry cleaner and do not use the unwanted chemicals that do harm to the environment. Our free home delivery also means minimal waste as you get your own bags for us to use during pickups and drop-offs. We use the safest methods for your items and the environment. We rely on methods safe for employees, and our machines are as energy-efficient as possible. Our methods are sustainable and a great way to help keep the earth green as you celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day at home.
