Can You Give Dry Cleaning as a Christmas Gift?
Get creative. Reduce, reuse and recycle. Go greener than ever. Give them what they need…and it can all be done with dry cleaning and laundry services from Oak Hill!!!
“Do you sell gift cards,” a woman at the counter asked Travis a few weeks ago.
“Sure,” he said. Without pausing, she explained why she’d asked. “It’s just that I don’t want to give my daughter a gift she won’t use, and so I’m getting her cashmere sweaters fixed and cleaned as a gift, instead.”
We hand-delivered those lovely cashmeres to our alterations expert and then Travis carefully cleaned and expertly pressed them for the customer when finished. Later, we talked about the creativity of such a gift. It got us thinking about the other gifts our customers provided their friends and family via our services. That list is pretty creative and made us realize that many of our customers could put the idea to use for their gift-giving this year. Just consider:
Repairs and Cleaning – As that woman did for her daughter, you too can offer to have favorite or even treasured garments cleaned and repaired. Everyone seemed to be emptying their closets and attics this year and we lost count of the varsity jackets and old military uniforms we cleaned and pressed this year. The same can be done for almost any item that someone might like to preserve, gift, or even wear again.
Wedding Gown Services – Many weddings this year were the “short version,” with an anticipated do-over next year. Because of that, a lot of brides opted out of our “Treasure Chest” service that put the gown in a beautiful preservation box, and instead had Travis clean and press the gown and put it in a storage bag for next year. Either approach – preservation or cleaning and pressing – are ideal gifts. They can go beyond wedding gowns and be used for children’s clothing, formal wear, and so on.
Quilts and Bedding – We had a lot of people bring in the most delicate quilts and though some were just too precious and fragile for cleaning, we were able to handle a large number of handmade quilts and blankets. Getting these items carefully cleaned, restored, and pressed is a great gift idea!
Wash/Dry/Fold – Does someone need a day off? Have a friend recuperating or overwhelmed with household chores? It is tough to take a day to yourself these days, and you can offer anyone a few free hours of time by gifting them some wash/dry/fold. They get a laundry bag, we pick it up for free, do their laundry and return it via our home delivery services. The overly busy or domestically burnt out will love a gift like this. So will new parents, the recently relocated, your senior relatives, and more.
Corporate gifts - Business owners and managers often have a tough time finding gifts that show their employees how much they appreciate them. Dry cleaning and laundry services may not sound like an exciting gift offer a perk any employee would love. Laundry is one of the most time-consuming household chores, and the gift of downtime cannot be under valued. There are several benefits for both the employer and the employee. Employees spend less time on laundry and more time for fun activities and relaxation. They get more time to do what they enjoy, and their boss gets an employee who returns to work renewed and refreshed. Everyone can look their best in freshly cleaned and pressed work wear, too!
Have a challenging person to buy gifts for this year? Maybe you’re the one who got that person who already has everything? Maybe you just like the idea of reusing, reducing, and recycling? No matter what, you CAN give dry cleaning and laundry services as the most creative gift. We offer gift cards in any dollar amount and can help you setup scheduled or on-demand pickup and delivery services as part of your gift. Just give us a call or visit our Gift Cards page to get started.
