Maine Needs and Oak Hill Dry Cleaner Launch First “Winter Warmth Drive”
Now, more than ever, it is up to local communities to support those in need. With winter just around the corner, Oak Hill Dry Cleaners (OakHillDryCleaners.com) and Maine Needs (MaineNeeds.com/donations) have partnered in their first-ever “Winter Warmth Drive.”
Aiming to gather gently used winter coats, sweaters, snow pants, and blankets or comforters, the drive also comes with a bit of a bonus for donors. Those who donate receive a $5 credit good towards any dry or wet cleaning service at Oak Hill Dry Cleaners.
How to Participate in the 2020 Winter Warmth Drive?
Simply bring your gently used winter coats, sweaters, snow pants or blankets and comforters to Oak Hill Dry Cleaners during their regular business hours (Mon-Fri 8AM to 1 PM or Sat 9-12). Please, no after-hours donations! When you make your donation, you will receive a $5 credit slip towards any type of service offered at Oak Hill Dry Cleaners.
For their part, Oak Hill will be laundering and cleaning the donations, and forwarding them to Maine Needs for distribution to other partner organizations.
About Maine Needs
Maine Needs is a grassroots nonprofit, powered by a growing collective of volunteers. As their website explains, they “know how resilient people are, but not all of life should be about overcoming adversity.”
The organization’s goal is to “meet people on the hill they climb and ease stressors by rallying the heart of the community to provide basic needs.”
The organization strives to “help individuals and families in Maine meet their basic, material needs by providing donated clothing, hygiene products, household items, and other necessities in an environment of dignity and compassion. We focus our work on those starting life over from scratch: domestic abuse survivors, asylum seekers and those facing financial hardships. We partner with schools, caseworkers, nurses and nonprofits to provide these material resources.”
As of October 2020, Maine Needs became a 501c3 and opened a free community donation center at 332 Forest Avenue, Portland Maine.
